What is the Future City Competition?
Future City is a project-based learning program where students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future. Baden Academy has competed every year that we've had a 6th grade team. We are always the youngest team. We are always the least experienced team. We have brought home four awards!
Our Mission
We want people to pursue a better future, and to be passionate about their city and making it a better place to live. We want to change the world. Our mission is to prepare Baden Academy 6th graders to learn about sustainable futures and compete in the Future City Engineering competition.
Baden Academy's Future City Team
Every year Baden Academy Charter School has a new Future City team. Future City is for 6th grade students at the school. Each team is responsible to research the new theme, develop a city in SIM City virtual world builder, map and plan their city, write an essay demonstrating what they learned from their research, build a model, and develop a creative presentation. All of this takes place within the organization structure of learning to plan extensive engineering projects!
